Plagiarism Policy
1. Introduction
JBR is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical research practices. Plagiarism is a serious offense that undermines these principles. This policy outlines the journal's stance on plagiarism and the actions taken in response to suspected or confirmed plagiarism.
2. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else's ideas, words, data, or processes as your own without proper attribution. This includes:
Verbatim copying of text: Copying text from another source without quotation marks and proper citation.
Paraphrasing without proper attribution: Rewriting someone else's ideas or content without giving proper credit.
Self-plagiarism: Reusing significant portions of your own previously published work without proper citation.
3. Detection and Consequences
Plagiarism Screening: All submitted manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using plagiarism detection software.
Minor Plagiarism (less than 5%): The author(s) will be contacted and requested to revise the manuscript to properly cite the sources.
Moderate Plagiarism (5-19%): The manuscript will be returned to the author(s) for significant revision and proper citation. Depending on the severity, re-submission may require editorial approval.
Major Plagiarism (over 19%): The manuscript will be rejected outright (desk rejection). The journal may also consider contacting the author's institution.
4. Post-Publication Plagiarism
If plagiarism is discovered in a published article, the journal will take the following actions:
Contact the author(s): The author(s) will be contacted and requested to respond.
Correction notice: A correction notice will be issued acknowledging the plagiarism.
Retracting the article: In severe cases, the article may be retracted, and relevant indexing services will be notified.
5. Author Responsibilities
Authors submitting manuscripts to JBR are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work. Authors must properly cite all sources used in their research and give credit to the original authors.
